Released, no wait called

Last week I had from the high counsel representative to releases me from my calling as a public affairs committee. The only problem was that I never had that calling. It was quite humorous and there were several quick calls made so I wasn't released in all the wards in the stake.

So today he came back and extended that call to me. It was a little funny that it took so long to get the call extended.

Now that Chris is the Elders Quorum President, it is good that I have a calling with a little less stress and time commitment. This will be a new and interesting calling.

Love of reading and fish!

I love how much the girls spend time together. Yesterday Chris caught them reading together. They love reading a lot, so we have started going to story time at the Library one night a week. They both have their favorite books and we ready all the time. It is so good to see them reading and enjoying it so much.
It is really funny how much the girls like grown up food, especially fish. They both always ask for fish whenever I eat it for dinner. Abby was giving me her mad face.

Extension at work

I am sure you have been checking daily to see where I would move to next in my career. Well hold on for a bit, because I was asked to stay a while longer. I thought that I would be leaving the end of this month, so I started looking for a new location to move to.

However, today my boss told me that the conversion will not be complete until later in the year and that as a result of that they would like me to stay through the end of the year.

Sooo I have postponed my employment hunt for the time being and will focus on this huge conversion I am knee deep in now.

The good news is I don't need to look for work during the end of the year, which I am sure would have proved to be a challenge.

Trouble, again

You know the phrase, if it is too quiet that is not a good sign (with little ones around). Tori has been a little trouble maker lately and been very quiet while doing it. Today I came down to find that she had pulled Abby's stamp set and was was covered in nice pink ink, as well as her clothes and the newly shampooed carpet.

She will be pink for a couple of days, but most of it washed off in the bath tonight. Today she also pulled one of our canned tomato bottles down and smashed it. Note to self...if Tori is quiet, go see what she is destroying!!

My first 5K

I did my first 5K today. Our ward held the annual "family fun run" and I decided that it wouldn't be that bad to run. I do that much everyday between running the dog and the treadmill, I have to say I underestimated just a tad. I made my goal, which was under 40 minutes with a time of 39.30. I am sure the real runners are laughing about now, but for me I think that was pretty good. Now the only way to go is up, onward and faster.

Canada

As you know Chris is a Canadian, and we have many friends from the far north. So when any of them make a visit they will bring us back our favorite Oreo and Maple leaf cookies (which I have blogged about before). The last time our friend Joan was there she feel in love with this adorable shirt and brought it back for Tori. It is really cute and just in time for the colder weather.
As it is almost time for our annual Thanksgiving (Canadian in October) dinner I am sure you will see it soon.
Thanks Joan!!

Happy Labor Day

We went out for one of our favorite hikes today to Castle wood Canyon. Abby insisted that she was cold, so she had to ware her long pants and shirt. I did convince her that she should put shorts and a short sleeve shirt underneath so if she got hot she would be able to take those heavy clothes off. I got this new hat for Tori, but Abby wanted to use it today. She made quite the fashion statement when we left today...
Tori loves her sunglasses and will ware as many as you will let her ware.
After we took 20 minutes to get loaded up with kids and make sure everyone had what they needed we headed off. I always carry Tori, a good workout as that is an extra 35 pounds.
Chris will carry Abby until she decides that she is ready to walk and the dog follows along behind them. Abby was our "leader guy" for the hike once she got down.
Here we are taking a rest for a snack. Nothing as good as some apples and popcorn.
At the end of the hike, it was Tori and I waiting for Dad. She wanted to do a close up.
All in all it was a fun day.
After we got home then naps and Wendi stopped by for a quick visit. It was nice to see her again and catch up.
We had some yummy BBQ, a staple for holidays and called it good.
